The ocean is built out of a few different pieces. One piece has
multi-layered
ripples coming in at slightly varied rates. The other piece has the
breakers hitting the beach, then sliding back into the water. The
breakers piece uses animating multi-layered textures, and also has
vertex alpha along its edges that allows the breakers to blend with the
ocean water, and to fade into the shore.
The sky is similarly built with multiple pieces, each with its own
multiple layers of sometimes animating textures.
